Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathy is a form of the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness using the principals of Naturopathic medicine. These principles include utilizing the body's innate healing power of the body, doctor as teacher and a focus on preventative medicine. We look at the person as a whole; mental, emotional and physical, and work to understand how all these aspects of the individual impact each other.

We assess all systems of a person. Your stomach symptoms are not totally unrelated to your liver. Your sinuses may not be unrelated to your adrenal glands. We look at the whole picture and often find connections between various aspects of an individuals health. This is why we often ask our patients many questions, ones you may not have thought to consider.

To diagnose, we use history, physical examination and laboratory tests. To treat, we use several gentle modalities such as homeopathy, nutrition, traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture), botanical medicine, counselling and manipulation.

Often if the body is treated properly, it will repair itself. Diet and lifestyle will be the primary targets of your treatment. In naturopathic medicine, we use natural substances that are generally safer and have few, if any, side effects. As naturopaths, our aim is to teach our patients about health and disease and empower them with the knowledge they need to maintain their health. Always feel free to ask us that extra question.
